What's Cooking

Here's some pictures of what have been cooking up in our kitchen.... presenting Chef YSC aka Yeo Seng Chooi!

This is our Italian Bread which is among the few which we tried to bake. Some turn out as hard as a rock as we tried to innovate the recipes and some turn out pretty edible. What I loved most is the smell of freshly baked breads.... even I was enticed to eat as I was never a "bread person".

Inspired while surfing the net, Kevin tried his hands....errr more of my hands, his instructions.... in lasagna. Although it was our first try but it turned out pretty okay with room for improvement as I place too little sauce and cheese around the edges.

With time in our hands, we decided to raid what is available in our fridge to bake the cakes for family birthdays. It is a chocolate cake topped with fresh strawberries, crushed nuts and melted chocolate. The cake was still warm when we had it!

This is our second birthday cake. As you can tell, we have plenty of nuts to crush and chocolate to melt. It is a marble cake topped with sliced kiwi, crushed nuts and melted chocolate.
Meanwhile, we continue to browse through old recipe books and watch the cooking programs on cable to cook up more food. So do let us know what you are craving for want to eat the next time you visit us and we will definitely whip it up for you!!!

What's Going On!!!

To all who have been faithfully following our blog would realise the almost 2 month silence on the updates which I must apologise...... Well, there were plenty to do once we reached home on the 14th Feb and 24hrs a day were simply not enough.
Kevin started out only able to walk few steps and had to be supervised all the time. With his fighting spirit and an unexpected gesture of kindness by a family friend's son-in-law who is a therapist, they worked out how to best exercise and our friend even came to massage his legs to reduce the swelling. Within weeks, he started lose his dependence on the wheelchair and the oxygen machine set up at home.

On days which we had the means of transport, we will go to Ikea where it is wheelchair friendly for a weekday lunch. As we all know Kevin is a restless person, he always looks forward to some kind of activity for the day. Taking the LRT which is also wheelchair friendly to the nearest mall to grab a thing or two is certainly enough to satisfy him. Most of the weekdays, he will plan what to cook or bake which we will put in later posts.

At times, our relatives and friends take us out for meals which Kevin really looks forward to! Family and friends drop by during weekends for tea and chats and that perks him up. In between were plenty of naps which both of us just could not get enough.

Just recently, he made such good improvement that we managed to embark on a short trip to Kuala Lumpur (with the blessings of our doctors) which were fun filled with gatherings with family and friends! Of course our food lover got wide eyed when he saw all the hawker fare. But he stayed away from all those best flavoured food laden with lard and kept to his healthy diet.

For now, we are keeping to light exercise in the morning, a healthy diet accompanied with the traditional chinese medications and close monitoring by all our doctors at the NCC. In no time, he will be back on his feet and painting the town red again!!!
